It Started in Home Ec Class
As a senior at Exira High School, Randall Krogh was challenged by his home economics teacher to bring in a great recipe. He went straight to his grandmother’s recipe box and found one for corn cob jelly.
His classmates laughed at the idea of jelly made from corn cobs. Then he won the cooking contest and sold out before the school day was over.
Years later, in 2006, Randall turned that recipe into Krogh Family Farms Corn Cob Sweetened Spread. He had it tested for safety and nutrition with the University of Nebraska–Lincoln Food Entrepreneur Program before it ever went on a shelf.
The Picture on the Label
The International Super M tractor with the mounted John Deere corn picker is the one Randall’s father, Charles Krogh, ran when Randall was a boy. Helping Dad unload corn into the elevator taught him to do a job right and to be proud of what you make.
